13.12.2023  —  The Board of Directors of Axpo Holding AG will propose to the General Meeting on 19 January 2024 that Samuel Leupold be elected as a replacement Board member. The 53-year-old Swiss energy expert would replace Hanspeter Fässler (67), who is stepping down.

After seven years, Hanspeter Fässler is withdrawing from his roles as a member and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Axpo Holding AG. During his time on the Board, Fässler was a member of the Strategy Committee and, since January 2018, Chairman of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee.

“We owe Hanspeter Fässler a debt of gratitude for the years he has spent serving our company. He has contributed a great deal of knowledge, experience and energy to the ongoing development of Axpo and helped to shape the company, particularly in his role as Vice Chairman,” says Thomas Sieber, Chairman of the Axpo Board of Directors. “I am glad that we have been able to recruit Samuel Leupold, a proven energy expert with international experience.”

Samuel Leupold is currently an independent consultant and director. He is Independent Non-Executive Director of the British company CORIO Generation, an offshore wind developer that is part of the Macquarie Green Investment Group. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the technology and service company Schlumberger, a global supplier of energy technologies and related services. Previously, he spent several years as CEO of Orsted Wind Power (formerly Dong Wind Power), the world leader in the development and operation of offshore wind farms. Before that, Leupold was at the BKW Group as Head of International Energy and Trading. He launched his career at ABB and worked for McKinsey as a consultant with clients including companies in the energy sector. Leupold holds a degree in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD.

The Board of Directors of Axpo Holding AG will propose the election of Samuel Leupold to the General Meeting on 19 January 2024. This is based on a nomination by AEW Energie AG.
