Axpo has appointed a new head of its business activities in Great Britain and Ireland, it was announced today. Steven McCarthy, until now Head Origination at Axpo UK, will take over as Managing Director of Axpo UK, effective July 1st, 2021. He succeeds Kamal Khoury, who will continue his career with a new challenge outside Axpo. In recent years, Axpo has become one of the major players in the UK energy market, especially in the field of power purchase agreements (PPA).
An experienced manager with more than 20 years in the UK energy industry, working in a variety of trading and origination roles, Steven McCarthy has been with Axpo UK for more than six years, first as Senior Originator and most recently as Head of UK Origination. Prior to joining Axpo in 2015, Steven held positions in London with GDF Suez (formerly International Power) as a UK power and gas originator and as team leader covering the short term trading, optimisation and dispatch of the UK gas and coal fired generation fleet.
