Axpo powers Danfoss US sites with green energy from Texas solar farm

22.04.25 - Axpo and multinational engineering technologies leader Danfoss today announced the signing of a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) that will see Axpo supply all Danfoss facilities in the United States with renewable energy sourced from a solar farm in Texas.

Under the agreement, Danfoss will purchase 185,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable electricity annually through to 2032, significantly advancing the sustainability goals of both companies. The PPA highlights Axpo’s expanding role in the North American energy market.

Axpo Senior Originator Luke Tosheff said: "We’re thrilled to collaborate with Danfoss, leveraging our expertise to deliver clean and reliable power that supports their carbon neutral ambitions. At Axpo, we’re committed to supporting the transition to a sustainable energy future, working in partnership with our clients in the United States, where our presence continues to grow, and worldwide."

Danfoss Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of Global Servies Torben Christensen said: “This is a significant milestone in our efforts to decarbonize our operations by 2030. The solar facility produces all the green electricity needed to power our 24 factories and 36 locations in the region. The agreement is the result of great team efforts across the Danfoss organization.”

Axpo originally purchased the renewable energy under a long-term PPA with Shakes Solar, a 2.8 square-mile solar farm located in Dimmit County, South Texas. The facility was developed by owner Cypress Creek Renewables, one of the country’s leading clean energy companies.
