Axpo sells property in Laufenburg

07.12.2018 - Axpo has sold the former EGL building in Laufenburg (Canton of Aargau) to the Entwicklungsgesellschaft Stern Laufenburg AG (EGSL). On its own accounts, EGSL intends to use the property for the development and operation of a business incubator in the area of energy and secure communications. The parties have agreed not to disclose details regarding the sales price.

The entire property located in the industrial zone of the town of Laufenburg will be turned over to the new owner EGSL on 1 January 2019. Axpo is pleased to have found a buyer in EGSL that intends to continue developing the Laufenburg location.

In 1958, the world's largest electricity network interconnection, the so-called "Star of Laufenburg", was established in Laufenburg. The former Elektrizitätsgesellschaft Laufenburg (EGL, today Axpo Solutions AG) used the building for offices. After moving the headquarters from Laufenburg to Dietikon (ZH) and later to Axpo headquarters in Baden (AG), the building was no longer crucial for Axpo and was temporarily rented out.
