19.03.2025 - At their Annual General Meeting, the shareholders of Kraftwerke Sarganserland AG (KSL) approved the annual financial statements and report for the 2023/24 financial year. Electricity production in the reporting year was significantly higher than the already strong previous year and also above the long-term average.
In the 2023/24 financial year, Kraftwerke Sarganserland AG produced 590.0 million kWh. This corresponds to the average annual electricity demand of around 150,000 four-person households. Annual production was thus significantly higher than in the same period of the previous year (491.1 million kWh) and also higher than the long-term average of 473.4 million kWh. The reason for the increased electricity production is the above-average rainfall in the past financial year. At CHF 29.3 million, the annual costs borne by the partners were roughly the same as in the previous year (CHF 29.1 million).
Preparations for the increase in the bottom outlet at the Gigerwald reservoir began in summer 2024, with the main work starting at the end of September. Visitor numbers were down after a very strong previous year. 421 people (previous year 725) visited the Mapragg plant and 88 (previous year 363) the Gigerwald dam. Due to the preparations for the increase in the bottom outlet, no more guided tours were offered in Gigerwald from June 2024.
The Annual General Meeting approved the annual financial statements and the dividend of 2.0 per cent of the share capital of CHF 50 million. The incumbent members of the Board of Directors Yvonne Walser Georgy, Jörg Huwyler (Chairman), Ferdinand Riederer, Michael Schärli and Hans-Peter Zehnder (Vice Chairman) were confirmed in office.
Kraftwerke Sarganserland AG is a partner plant of Axpo and the Canton of St. Gallen. Axpo holds 98.5 per cent of the shares, and the Canton of St. Gallen 1.5 per cent.
