10.02.2025 - An unintentional emergency shutdown of unit 2 of the Beznau nuclear power plant was triggered during a routine check. The plant was in a safe state at all times. It will be reconnected to the grid after consultation with ENSI.
Due to an operating error, a scram of the reactor in unit 2 of the Beznau nuclear power plant (KKB) occurred today at 1:05 p.m. during a routine check. The plant responded as designed and was in a safe state at all times. The supervisory authority ENSI and other authorities were informed as required by regulations.
KKB is reconnecting the plant to the grid in agreement with ENSI.
During the restart, water vapour is visible above the plant's turbine hall (non-nuclear part). There is no danger to the population or the environment.
