The ground-mounted system "Ovra Solara Magriel"

The "Ovra Solara Magriel" alpine solar plant in Disentis is to be built at an altitude of over 2,100 metres near the summit of La Muotta. The mountain railways in the Disentis ski area will be able to meet their annual electricity requirements entirely with local solar power. Utilising the existing infrastructure, such as the electricity grid, simplifies the construction of the solar plant.

The ground-mounted system is expected to have an installed capacity of around 9 megawatts and produce almost 15 gigawatt hours of electricity per year, which corresponds to the consumption of almost 3,000 Swiss households.

The first partial commissioning is planned for autumn 2025 and full commissioning in the following years. The alpine solar plant will supply valuable winter electricity, particularly in the cold months.

The project in numbers:

  • to be built at over 2100 metres above sea level
  • 9 megawatts of installed capacity
  • should produce almost 15 gigawatt hours of electricity per year
  • corresponds to the electricity consumption of almost 3000 households per year
