21.09.2015 - The Glarner Thomas Sieber (53), Chairman of Salt Mobile SA, is expected to be appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Axpo Holding AG at the Annual General Meeting on 11 March 2016. The Axpo Holding AG Board of Directors decided unanimously to put this motion before the General Annual Meeting. Sieber will succeed Robert Lombardini (66), who is retiring and has been Chairman since 2004.

In addition to his mandate as Chairman of Salt Mobile SA, Thomas Sieber, who holds a business degree from the University of St. Gallen (lic. oec. HSG), is currently on the board of directors of Sierra Wireless, RTX and Garaio AG, as well as Chairman of the Board of Limmex AG. From 2009 to 2012, he managed the operative business of Orange Switzerland (now Salt Mobile SA) as the CEO.

Before moving to Orange, Thomas Sieber shaped the development of Fujitsu’s channel business from 2001 to 2009. As a member of Executive Management he was responsible for the operative management of the international IT business with over 3000 employees. Thomas Sieber’s successful ICT career of over 20 years began at Hewlett Packard where in his last position he was the European Director of the SME area with 600 employees.

On his designated successor, Chairman Robert Lombardini says „I look forward to entrusting such an experienced manager with the responsibility for the Axpo Group. Thomas Sieber will be able to contribute valuable experience to Axpo during these changing times in the energy sector.“

The milestones of Robert Lombardini’s term as Chairman were the merger of NOK, EGL and CKW under Axpo, the development of the European trading business, the expansion of the Linth-Limmern pumped storage plant, the development of the TAP natural gas pipeline, participation in the North Sea wind farm Global Tech 1 and the renovation of the hydropower plant park.

The move to the head of Axpo is a logical one for Thomas Sieber given his broad experience in the technology and telecom sector. „Energy companies must also find new directions owing to the changing market environment and concentrate their focus on the customer. This process is already underway at Axpo, and I am looking forward to making a contribution here.“

Thomas Sieber is married and has two sons. In addition to travelling, jogging and winter sports, playing golf with his family is one of his favourite hobbies.
